Who is Sweet Timber Frames?

Sweet Timber Frames was founded in 1981 by John Sweet and is based in Mount Desert, Maine. Sweet Timber Frames encompasses a core group of 6 highly skilled craftsmen dedicated to constructing beautiful, environmentally sustainable timber frames using traditional timber frame building techniques. For larger projects, we scale our resources as needed.

What types of timber frames do you build?

Sweet Timber Frames builds custom, hand-joined timber frames homes from "foundation to finish," or we can build a timber frame you can raise and complete yourself. Since 1981, we have built approximately 60 timber frame homes, cottages and barns. Prior to 1981, John Sweet built approximately 20 other timber frame homes while working for other contractors, plus 20 years of ironworking experience building bridges, skyscrapers and papermills.

Where does Sweet Timber Frames build timber frame homes?

Since our workshop is located in Mount Desert Maine, all of the timber frame homes we have built are located in Maine, most of which have been built in the Acadia and Downeast Maine area.
